Composite

The composites industry is a long-standing user of honeycomb structures. The core of a sandwich panel often consists of a honeycomb on which resin and fiberglass skins are affixed (see illustration). The result is a panel with greater flexural strength, greater deformation capacity (depending on the type of core used), and a void ratio of around 95%, making the material very light. Applications in the aeronautics industry are numerous, as are those in the automotive, marine, wind and rail sectors. Their use in the aerospace industry with aluminum honeycomb, fiberglass and advanced composite materials dates back to the 1950s. Varainates have also been used in landscaping and public works.

The use of aluminum honeycomb and other composite structures in the building and construction sector is much more recent. STONE EVOLUTION has made this its speciality, and today boasts know-how recognized by the construction industry, crowned by certification from the Center Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment(CSTB), which has issued a technical opinion.

About CSTB

The Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment, CSTB, is an industrial and commercial public enterprise (EPIC), serving its customers and the public interest.

Its ambition is to imagine the buildings and the city of tomorrow by supporting and securing sustainable construction and renovation projects, to improve the quality of life of their users, by anticipating the effects of climate change. To this end, it brings together multidisciplinary skills and carries out 5 key activities: research and expertise, evaluation, certification, testing and knowledge dissemination. Its field of expertise covers construction products, buildings and their integration into the district and the city.

Our solutions are adaptable to all your projects!

Our ultra-light cladding and cladding panel is made of a very thin thickness of natural stone on an aluminium honeycomb support panel, together forming a homogeneous product with monolithic behaviour, which is practical, robust and very resistant at the same time. The complex is perfectly compatible with all types of stone – limestone, marble, granite, etc. -, and all the finishes. It adapts to the songs seen and returned treated in mitre or bird's beak cuts.

Quality on top of that!

The " composite-stone-composite " sandwiches are slit to obtain panels intended for shaping, which receive a surface finish according to specifications (softened, polished, brushed, bush-hammered, etc.). The panels are then cut according to pre-established production plans, including edge treatments for mitered or bird's beak type assemblies. Panels or parts assembled for the project are fitted, where necessary, with fixing points to make them ready for installation. At the end of these operations, the parts are checked for conformity, production quality and project details, before being packed for collection.
